At Grayson’s Gutter Cleaning, we believe in straightforward, transparent communication. Before you book a service with us, we want you to feel completely confident in our process. Below are the most common questions we receive from homeowners regarding our gutter cleaning and related services.

Pricing and Quotes

How much does gutter cleaning cost in Melbourne?

Every house is different and accessed individually. Some of the things that affect gutter cleaning prices are the quantity of gutters in linear metres, are there leaf guards obstructing the gutters, is your building two storey or single, how blocked are the gutters. We can provide precise price quotes once we arrive at your house.

Do you give free quotes over the phone?

No, we can only provide estimates over the phone. We will do our best to look up your property on satellite and street view to hopefully narrow down the window of that price estimate.

What is your minimum call-out fee?

Our absolute minimum pricing floor is $300 for a single-storey home and $400 for a double-storey home. We do not recognize “partially double-storey” properties as a pricing tier; if any part of the roof requires double-storey access, the double-storey minimum applies. Note that some high single-storey roofs will be deemed to actually be double-storey height, and may incur double-storey quoting logic.

Do you charge extra for rubbish removal?

If specially required and requested prior, the first 60 litres of gutter debris and rubbish can be removed completely free of charge. Normally rubbish is left onsite and blended into existing garden beds or compost heaps. We are capable of removing mass quantities of gutter waste and tree prunings including entire skip bins full, but this incurs additional charges.

Our Cleaning Process

Do you use vacuums or leaf blowers from the ground?

No, we do not normally use vacuums or leaf blowers for gutter cleaning. We hand-clean the gutters, sweep out the roof channels and valleys, and clear debris from skylights and chimneys. We have a detailed article explaining why we don’t use vacuums for gutter cleaning.

Do you test the gutters after cleaning?

Absolutely. Our “Gold Standard” process includes a water flush test and this is also part of the crucial final flush of fine residue. Once the debris is removed, we flush the gutters with water to verify that the downpipes are flowing freely and there are no hidden blockages below the roofline.

What happens if you find roof damage or pests?

If our team discovers broken tiles, rusted gutters, or evidence of pests (like Indian Mynas or Pigeons) while on your roof, we will document the issue in the “Tradesman comments” section of your invoice. We also offer specialised bird-proofing services if requested.

Can you Repair Gutters?

We are not licensed plumbers and therefore we are unable to repair and replace guttering and downpipes. All sections of metallic roofing including valley sheets, roof sheets and metal flashing fall under the Plumbing code.

Are you Fully Insured?

Yes, absolutely, we are fully insured with Public Liability and Work Cover Insurance

When is the best time of year to clean gutters?

If your gutters are blocked, the best time to clean them is now. Don’t try to overthink this matter — blocked gutters need cleaning.

I’m renting. Is gutter cleaning my responsibility or the landlord’s?

For residential tenants, it’s the landlord’s responsibility; for commercial leases, the landlord can pass this responsibility on to the tenant.

Quality Assurance and Follow-Up

How do I know the job was done properly?

We provide proof of our work. You will receive a file link containing photos of your freshly cleared gutters. Our office also conducts follow up calls to you to ensure you are satisfied with the service. If you are unhappy or concerned about any aspect of the job please call us ASAP so we can investigate.

Do I need to be at home for the cleaning?

You do not need to be home as long as we have clear access to the entire perimeter of the property and any locked gates are left open for us. We will leave an invoice on-site upon completion or send the invoice to your mobile phone.

How often should I have my gutters cleaned?

This heavily depends on the tree coverage around your home. However, our standard reminder follow-up cycle is 3 months, if you wish to rebook at this time please do. If your home is prone to extra heavy leaf fall we can recommend other options like tree pruning and gutter protection.
